After long time, I decided to go to my village for Ganesha Chaturthi. While going by train I met an old man who had been to England. He used to say in UK the infrastructure is so good, they have built such wonderful things, blah blah blah. I said to him straightly, in UK there are more than 75% tax payers, but whereas here there are only 2-3%. Then we had a pretty discussion and I said we cannot cannot blame government for this. We are sole responsible for the crisis.
Then he gave me a small puzzle. Well it took me bloody long time to solve it, and that too after a small hint by him. I was going crazy, comeon I thought, I'm in DEShaw. I cant take so long. Then after I solved it he was surprised. He said I was the first one to solve it.
Then I was asked one more question by another fellow passenger. It was so simple. He said there are 3 wells in front of 3 temples. Everytime he goes to the well his money doubles. So he puts 10Rs to the hundi. When he comes back he will have no money left in his pocket. What was his original amount. I knew this question. It was not money but was regarding flowers. And it was 8 flowers giving to god. In the same way I proceeded. For 10Rs means before last he should have 5Rs. For 5 means after first he must have 15/2. Oh, give me a break its not an integer. How can it be? There is no answer. Then I gave up. He said answer is simple. its 8.75 Rs. Ooops, its not about flowers, its about Rs. and Rs can have fractions. Oh shit what kind of Engineer am I? How can I become CEO of a fortune 500 company with this rotten brain? Then I remembered once a mechanic said to Asimov , U ppl are damn educated. U cannot be smart!!!
Its not about smartness. Its about just opening up our mind. Thats it..
Cheers..
